The Forest Lake Squadron meets Wednesday evenings during school term at 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Flight Standards, Cnr. Grenier Drive and Hudson Place, Archerfield Airport.

We have grown steadily over the years and now have over 40 cadets with a mix of boys and girls ranging in age from 8 - 17 years old. Everyone is encouraged to visit our squadron and participate in a parade night where they will get a taste of ceremonial drill and education. Every other week we undertake team-building activities, sports nights or aircraft model-making.

Our squadron is proud to be the first squadron and currently the only squadron in Queensland to have a Drum Corps. This gives those cadets with an interest in music the opportunity to develop their drumming skills.

We currently also have one cadet who is a Student Pilot and one working on their Australian Air League Diploma of Aviation.

Throughout the year Cadets also have the opportunity to participate in many different activities and field trips.

In 2023, cadets from the Squadron have had the opportunity to attend Queensland Air Museum open days, with some lucky enough to be placed in the cockpit while they started the aircraft engine. The cadets have also been to Brisbane Airport to learn about the many different careers in aviation (Australian Aviation careers day 2023). Many of the Squadron’s cadets were also able to experience their first gliding flight when the Squadron attended the Boonah airfield and held a weekend of gliding, with the support of the Boonah Gliding Club.

In addition to organised visits the cadets also participate in camps, leadership training, education, ceremonial drill, community service and physical activities.
